Their Needs
Initially partnering with the mechanical services contractor for the substantial pipe and duct insulation package, On Time Insulation took the opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities in the passive fire protection components of the project. This included the supply and installation of fire rated pipe penetrations and Fyrewrap duct insulation systems. The project also required the development of several bespoke solutions to solve the multiple complex fire rating challenges.
Our Solution
This project was completed in 9 months over 2019/2020.
The main challenge was the design of 3 hour fire rated walls. Currently, no certified system exists for insulated pipes through -/180/180 rated walls. Working closely with our client, we investigated all solutions with many specialist passive fire experts and even investigated having a system approved by the CSIRO. On Time Insulation found an existing system that could meet the requirements of a -/180/180 rating, while still ensuring the vapour seal on all CHW pipes. This solution was approved by the project PCA and installed on site by On Time Insulation. All fire rated wall and floor service penetrations throughout the project were logged on a register and supported with photographic evidence. This is the standard that is always supplied to our client when installing passive fire protection to service penetrations.
On Time have recently completed the mechanical insulation portion of the major project “Edmondson Park Town Centre” for Crest Mechanical Division. Throughout the 11 month construction program, On Time has proven to be one of our most reliable subcontractors. Wherever and whenever it was required On Time always ensured they had the required resources and materials available on site to help Crest meet program targets. On Time’s site manager interacted exceptionally well with Crest’s team and our ductwork and pipework subcontractors to ensure a high quality finish to their works. On Time’s tradesmen in general are truly professional, always responsive to urgent issues, all the while quietly attending to the daily working requirements. We would have no hesitation in recommending On Time Insulation to any mechanical contractor, and hope they will be engaged for our next project.
Many thanks to Reece, Wesley and the On Time team!
